In the field of telecommunications engineering, signal coverage in complex environments often requires a deep integration of technology and experience. Recently, Lintratek successfully completed a 2-kilometer trial installation of 4G and 5G mobile signal coverage in remote area of a mountainous road tunnel, providing reliable technical validation for a subsequent 11-kilometer project. This project showcased Lintratek’s practical approach to tackling challenges in complex environments through innovative equipment and dynamic adjustment strategies.
1. Project Background and Challenges
Located in a remote area of Henan Province, China, the tunnel stretches 11 kilometers with a winding, irregular shape. The direct propagation of mobile signals (electromagnetic waves) makes it difficult for traditional antenna solutions to achieve full coverage. As part of the infrastructure construction project, the client required full mobile signal coverage without any dead zones, placing high demands on equipment deployment and flexibility. Additionally, the project faced challenging weather conditions such as rain, snow, fog, low temperatures, and slippery roads, further complicating the construction process.
2. Technical Solutions and On-site Implementation
1.Core Equipment Selection
Lintratek utilized the latest 4G and 5G dual-band digital fiber optic repeaters for this project. Compared to traditional analog fiber optic repeaters, this new product offers significant advantages by effectively eliminating noise and interference, ensuring high-quality, long-distance signal transmission. 2.Technical Plan and On-site Adjustments
For the winding tunnel in the rural area, Lintratek’s technical team initially devised a “one-to-two” solution using fiber optic repeaters with a near-end and far-end unit. Upon arrival at the project site, the team conducted a site survey to determine the number and placement of large-panel antennas to ensure mobile signal coverage. After further adjustments and optimization by the engineers, the team achieved seamless coverage for a 1-kilometer stretch of tunnel using just four large-panel antennas, significantly reducing equipment redundancy costs.
3.Construction Management Adjustments
Due to weather conditions, the team adopted a phased construction approach, prioritizing the deployment of the main fiber optic repeater unit and outdoor antennas. Indoor large-panel antennas were adjusted based on real-time testing, and the trial installation was completed in just three days.

3. Project Outcomes
Once the signal coverage project was completed and rigorously tested, both 4G and 5G mobile signals achieved full signal strength. This achievement not only met the client’s requirements for full mobile signal coverage inside the tunnel but also provided valuable experience for the subsequent 9-kilometer tunnel project, laying a solid foundation for road opening and delivery.
The key challenge in telecommunications projects often lies in adapting to local conditions. The successful completion of this remote, winding tunnel project represents another milestone in Lintratek’s technical expertise and on-site execution capabilities. Moving forward, the team will continue to focus on customer needs, providing stable and efficient mobile signal coverage solutions for even more complex scenarios.
