Most people live on land and rarely consider the issue of cell signal dead zones when taking a boat out to sea. Recently, the engineering team at Lintratek was tasked with a project to install a mobile signal booster in a yacht.
Generally, there are two main ways yachts(boats) can connect to the internet while at sea:
1. Satellite Communication: This is the most common method. Using satellite communication systems like VSAT or Inmarsat, yachts can obtain reliable internet connections even in the middle of the ocean. While satellite communication can be expensive, it provides extensive coverage and a stable connection.
2. Mobile Networks (4G/5G): When closer to shore, yachts can connect to the internet via 4G or 5G mobile networks. By using high-gain antennas and cellular signal boosters, yachts can enhance the received mobile signal, resulting in a better network connection.
Project Details: Yacht Interior Mobil Signal Coverage
Location: Yacht in Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province, China
Coverage Area: Four-story structure and main interior spaces of the yacht
Project Type: Commercial Cell Phone Signal Booster Solution
Project Overview: Ensure stable signal reception throughout all areas of the yacht for consistent internet access and phone calls.
Client Requirements: Cover signals from all Carriers. Ensure stable mobile signal reception in all areas of the yacht, allowing for reliable internet access and phone calls.
The Yacht
This project is located at a yacht club in Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province. Due to the lots of rooms inside the yacht, the wall materials significantly block mobile signals, making the signal very poor. The yacht club staff found Lintratek online and commissioned us to design a professional mobile signal coverage solution for the yacht.

Design Plan
The Mobile Signal Booster System
After a thorough discussion, Lintratek’s technical team proposed the following mobile signal booster for boat and yacht solution: a mobile signal booster system using a 5W multi-band cell phone signal repeater. An outdoor omnidirectional plastic antenna will be used to receive signals, while ceiling-mounted antennas inside the yacht will transmit the mobile signal.

Performance Testing
Following the installation and fine-tuning by Lintratek’s engineering team, the four-story interior of the yacht now has full signal bars, successfully amplifying signals from all carriers. The Lintratek team has flawlessly completed the mission!
