In mine tunnels, ensuring worker safety goes beyond physical protection; information security is equally vital. Recently, Lintratek undertook an important project to use mobile signal repeaters to provide mobile signal coverage for a 34km coking coal transport corridor. This project aims not only to achieve comprehensive mobile signal coverage but also to support the integration of personnel location monitoring systems, ensuring the safety of workers in the tunnels.
Project Background:
Previously, steel mills relied on a fleet of trucks to transport coking coal continuously from 34km away. This method faced numerous challenges: limited transport capacity, high costs (including vehicle and labor expenses), environmental pollution, and road damage.
Corridor Transport
Now, with corridor transport, coking coal can be supplied steadily and efficiently to the steel mill. However, the lack of mobile signal in the underground tunnels made communication with the outside world difficult. Management needed real-time access to the locations of inspection personnel to ensure their safety.
Project Solution:
Challenge: While iron railings in the tunnels provide safety, they also obstruct mobile signal transmission, causing significant signal degradation over distance.
To enhance signal transmission efficiency while reducing costs for the client, Lintratek’s technical team developed a tailored mobile signal coverage solution for the tunnel environment. Given the long-distance signal transmission involved, the team opted for fiber optic repeaters instead of traditional mobile signal repeaters. This setup utilizes a “one-to-two” configuration, where one near-end unit connects to two far-end units, each equipped with two antenna systems that cover 600 meters of tunnel area.
Mobile Signal Coverage Solution
Project Progress:
As of now, the project has successfully installed 5km of fiber optic repeaters, achieving mobile signal coverage. The completed areas now meet communication requirements and have successfully integrated personnel location monitoring systems. This not only allows inspection personnel to maintain real-time contact with the outside world but also enhances the monitoring of their safety.
Our construction team is diligently progressing on the remaining 29 kilometers, strictly adhering to the construction plan and safety standards to ensure every aspect meets high-quality requirements for a safe and reliable project completion.
Dual Assurance of Safety and Efficiency:
With Lintratek’s communication coverage project, the coking coal transport corridor will no longer be an information black hole. Our solution not only boosts communication efficiency but, more importantly, provides a solid safeguard for worker safety. In this 34km corridor, every corner will be covered by signal, ensuring that every life is protected by secure communication.
Mobile Signal Testing
As a manufacturer of mobile signal repeaters, Lintratek understands the importance of signal coverage. We are committed to continuously improving stable and reliable communication services for mine tunnels because we believe that without signal, there is no safety—every life is worth our utmost effort.
